Piano Lessons

To develop a well-rounded musician, I emphasize the following in each lesson:

Sight Reading - to develop ease and independence in learning pieces within and beyond private piano lessons.

Music Theory – to develop deeper understanding of the structure and harmonic interests in the pieces the student plays/sings; this also aids in developing memorization and interpretation skills.  Lead Sheet playing and improvisation are introduced at early intermediate level.

Technique – to develop ease in playing/singing, thus helping the student to become more effective in bringing out the character and expression of the composition.

Music History – knowledge which helps an artist interpret pieces correctly and with proper style

Repertoire – sound materials and compositions of great masters are assigned to develop artistry and good taste.  Only the best compositions and arrangements are good enough for my students.

Annual Spring Studio Recital is held in June.  Students also play in the Monthly Student Recitals sponsored by MTAC, Delta Branch.  Students participate in the Certificate of Merit Program sponsored by MTAC and have opportunities to participate in competitions.

Lessons are in 30-minute, 45-minute, and 1 hour sessions once a week.  Group lessons are held at least twice a year. Please contact Grace Edwards for policy and fee schedule.
