TESTIMONIALS

KATIE LE

UCLA, B.S. Computational Biology 2024

Ms.  Grace’s passion for music is only paralleled by her passion for teaching. She understands the needs of her students while always pushing them to do their best every single lesson.  Ms Grace prioritizes that her students understand music rather than just playing music well. She focuses on mastering the details and theory behind every musical piece.

I was Ms. Grace’s student since 4th grade.  While I struggled to balance music and school, Ms. Grace found alternative methods for me to implement in music.  She truly cares and personalizes teaching for each of her students in order to help them succeed.  I am very grateful for Ms. Grace for being a mentor throughout my childhood as she also taught me the discipline and confidence that comes with musical performance.

My name is Jon, and I have been a piano student under Ms. Grace for nearly 10 years. Music, without a doubt, has become a large part of my identity and one of the most significant influences in my life.

When I first started lessons with her, I was a shy kid and refused to practice. Ms. Grace showed me the importance of dedication and just how great the reward for hard work can be. She brought me to love music by being passionate in every lesson, putting her own feelings into the music and teaching me how to channel my own emotions. During lessons, she would check up with me and ask about school, and always remembered the little things. She has become my mentor, role model, and lifelong friend.

Although I am leaving lessons and going to college, the values I gained from Grace’s studio and the confidence I accumulated from her guidance and my own hard work will stay with me as I pursue a career as a physician. Music has been my creative outlet, a breath of fresh air, which I had the chance to explore with Grace - I wouldn’t with anyone else.

Thank you Ms. Grace!

Mrs. Grace Edwards taught me the nuances of piano technique and music theory, but she also instilled a high level of discipline and dedication in me through her passionate lessons.

Mrs. Edwards is a consummate professional who diligently prepares for every student's lesson to maximize their potential as musicians and as intellectuals. If you wish to become the best piano player you can be, look no further.

CHRISTABEL ACUSA

 Student for nine years

My name is Christabel Acusa, and I was a piano student of Ms. Grace Edwards for about 9 years. I’ve always loved music, but have always been habitually undisciplined. As many kids did, I usually exerted the bare-minimum amount of energy required to do “okay” in piano. Every week that I met with Ms. Edwards, I was challenged. Even when I found my drive, skill, and talent to be lacking, she always found a balance in offering both honest encouragement and necessary, patient, constructive criticism. With her natural gifting in music and teaching, she helped cultivate my passion for music, even in the time I had to drop out of piano lessons. (There was even a point I considered being a music educator!) I studied nursing during college, but insisted on maintaining my education and practice in music. Now working as a registered nurse, I still make it a priority to play classical music, as well as serve regularly in music ministry at my local church. Those music lessons from back then in discipline, commitment, and passion have also remained with me to this day.

I am sincerely grateful to Ms. Grace Edwards, and would encourage anyone (young or not-as-young) even slightly interested in learning piano to consider contacting her for lessons!

It’s never too late to learn, seriously.

STEPHANIE QUAN

Apprentice and Long Time Student

Ms. Edwards has been my teacher and mentor for many years. Her passion and knowledge for music has only grown along with her skill. She encapsulates the heart of each piece she teaches and breaks it down so it's easily understood. She eagerly encourages progress and her patience is unwavering. Each lesson is planned meticulously with her students in mind and she continually finds various methods to strengthen weaker areas so that we may fully understand and perform with confidence. Her foundation is of the classics, but she's not afraid to venture into other genres to build more interest and solidify techniques and theory being learned. I am tremendously grateful for the time she has put into maturing me musically and even socially from childhood into adulthood. I would strongly recommend her as a teacher for anyone looking to learn the beauty of piano and music, regardless of age.

Every lesson with Ms. Grace Edwards was a lesson to look forward to. Every piece she taught me, I learned so much more than I initially imagined. Every lesson with her helped me build a solid foundation to improve my skills - technique and expression wise. She constantly encouraged and challenged me to tackle every piece without fear and to constantly improve my skills to round me out into the humble musician I am today.

But, Ms. Grace Edwards taught me more than just piano. Through her engaging and passionate lessons, instilled in me is the discipline and passion that will follow me into my future. Her music and teachings have inspired me to move with the same grace and steadfastness that she's shown me throughout our years together.
